While helping her grandmother maintain her garden, a girl notices something in her features that pique her curiosity. Why does her grandmother wear long braids and brightly colored clothes? Why does she speak another language and spend so much time with her family? These questions lead the elder to talk about the years she spent as a child in an aboriginal boarding school, where everything had been taken away from her.
