Q: Is my library branch still open?
A: All branches will be closed starting Friday, March 20th, and will not be open again until further notice. Depending on the COVID-19 situation, these closure days may be shortened or extended.
Q: When will programming resume at my local library?
A: Programs will resume once libraries re-open. Staff will need some time, however, to resume planning and promotions. After reopening, stay in touch with your local branch for details.
Q: Should I return library materials I currently have out?
A: Please hold onto your library materials for now. Fines will not be charged/accumulate during the closures.
Q: How do I renew my library materials?
Q: Can I still request and place holds?
A: No. Holds have been temporarily frozen province-wide. We will provide an update when this changes. Interlibrary Loans have also been temporarily suspended. If you would like to keep track of new materials and items you want to borrow once the branches are open, view our Reading List Setup Guide.
Q: What will happen to holds I placed before my branch closed? Will they still be there?
A: Yes, once the library branch reopens all holds will be available to pick up at the location they're currently held at.
Q: I don't have a library card. Am I still able to sign up for one while my branch is closed?
A: Yes. To sign up for a new card, click here. You will receive a temporary barcode, but you will still have access to all of our eResources. Once branches are re-opened, please be sure to stop by your local branch to receive your permanent card.
Q: I've never used your digital materials before. Where do I start?
A: We've created some start-up guides and links for questions about our e-resources, as well as additional resources for things to help pass the time during social distancing and self-isolation. Find it all here.
Q: What do I do if my card is blocked because of fines and I can't use digital materials?
A: We have successfully remedied this issue and anyone with a library card should be able to access all digital resources regardless of fines and fees on their accounts. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are still experiencing issues. We will strive to answer all emails within 48 hours of receiving them.
Q: My card is expired and/or my PIN is not working. What do I do?
A: Please email email@example.com or call 306-848-3100 and we will renew your card/reset your PIN for you as soon as possible. Please have the following information ready:
- barcode number
- phone number
- home branch
Q: Will library staff be in the library even if it is closed to the public?
A: At this time, no, staff will not be in the library. As the crisis begins to pass, staff may return to work with the branch closed to the public at a later date, but only on the advice of the Saskatchewan Health Authority, Public Health Agency of Canada, and the Ministry of Education.
Q: Are local library boards still meeting?
A: No, please maintain social distancing. The requirement for AGMs and reports are suspended until the crisis passes.
Q: Where do I get updates about the situation at the library?
Q: Where can I find information about COVID-19?
A: We are following information from the Government of Saskatchewan and the Public Health Agency of Canada. If you start having symptoms of COVID-19, isolate yourself from others as quickly as possible.
Immediately call a health care professional or the Saskatchewan public health authority by dialing 811. They will provide advice on what you should do.
